  • Monitor and review outsource vendor activity which posts to the general ledger and benefit bank accounts. Work with internal groups and vendors to review and resolve issues.

  • Assist in company budget assumptions and planning as it relates to benefits accounting and payroll tax responsibilities.

  • Assist with annual Longleaf statutory audit as well as monthly Longleaf monitoring responsibilities.

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, data gathering/review and questions related to benefit plan audits and 5500’s as needed.

  • Perform monthly reconciliation of assigned corporate general ledger accounts and bank accounts to identify and resolve variances including, but not limited to:

  • IP PAC political contributions remittance and GL account reconciliation

  • Salaried Vacation pay accrual and monthly pass back of credits to locations per policy

  • Miscellaneous payroll deduction accounts for the U.S. and Canada

  • Have a working knowledge of the Master Tax system and reporting requirements for the U.S. and Canada—supporting the Team Leader.

  • Provide internal and external customers with timely and accurate benefits accounting analysis.

  • Perform due diligence on unclaimed property reporting for payroll and benefits to ensure compliance.

  • Assist with internal and external audits as needed.

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, data gathering/review and questions related to benefit plan audits and 5500’s as needed.

  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries as needed.

  • Provide accounting support and assist in documenting, communicating and implementing procedures for acquisitions, mergers and divestitures.

  • Assist locations, staff groups and third party administrators with research requests, analytical support, and issue resolution associated with departmental responsibilities.

  • Provide backup and support for other positions in Benefits Accounting & Payroll Tax.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Human Resources or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 3 years of general accounting, payroll taxes and business concepts knowledge and experience

  • Understanding and proven track record of applying payroll processes, timekeeping, garnishments, commission payments, and benefit administration

  • Ability to create relationships and liaise with both internal and external customers for benefit and payroll administration

  • Working knowledge of SAP

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations

  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Understand general accounting and business concepts

  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, organizational skills and priority-setting abilities

  • Ability to interact with IT to ensure the appropriate systematic modifications are in place to ensure compliance

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
