Description:
• Develops a fundamental understanding of xpedx sales approaches,
techniques, products, processes and tools.
• Acquire system knowledge and competence, both operational and
informational, to perform all functions at a professional level.
• Perform all duties safely and ensure compliance with all safety
policies.
• In conjunction with Sales Manager, develops a list of customers that
are actively managed
• Meets with project manager at customer organization to identify
package automation needs prior to new product launch (e.g., type of
product to be packaged, packaging speed required)
• Provides packaging-related advice, solutions, and ideas to help
customers improve processes, efficiency and performance (e.g., reducing
material costs, labor costs, increasing package uniformity, strengthen
package integrity)
• Educates the customer on all pertinent packaging solutions available
from xpedx and manufacturers
• Works with line level employees at customer organization to identify
packaging problems/issues, reports back to senior management with
recommendations
• Keeps abreast of customer business environment, goals, and strategy to
formulate and propose xpedx solutions
• Serve as corporate educator for customer organization in such areas as
layout of warehouse, shipping processes, etc.
• Keeps abreast of new product/services xpedx and suppliers can provide
and integrates these products/services into customers’ operations
• Identifies manufacturers/suppliers that provide materials most in line
with customer needs
• Negotiates price with manufacturers/suppliers for materials and
capital equipment to provide most cost effective solution for customer
• Properly communicate announced product and price changes, availability
conditions and other pertinent announcements to your customers. Deliver
samples as necessary.
• Keep the appropriate Sales Manager and/or Business Manager well
informed, at reasonable intervals, on progress being made on sales and
account developments, as well as market, credit and competitive changes.
These should be reported whether positive or negative.
• Maintain all customer files accurately, including key personnel, sales
history and potential sales data.
• Execute all paperwork in a timely, accurate and comprehensive manner.
• Review new product developments and sales techniques on an ongoing
basis. Develop a complete and comprehensive technical knowledge of all
products appropriate to your market or territory.
• Manages territory efficiently (i.e., minimize windshield time”) by
scheduling customer visits based on geography
• Establishes self as first point of contact when customer faces
packaging challenge
• Provides follow-up with customer to convey genuine concern for
customer and individual needs and concerns
• Effectively serves as liaison between xpedx functional departments and
customer to ensure customer’s satisfaction
• Takes ownership of customer problems even when not directly
responsible and follows up to ensure resolution
• Participate actively in company-sponsored training sessions,
regularly scheduled sales meetings and division functions.
• May be requested to perform other duties not listed above.
