Job Title

Forklift/ Dumper / Utility

Reports to

Plant Lead, Plant Superintendent and/or Plant Manager

Job Purpose

To assist in the process of receiving, grading and distributing material to the proper processing area that allows for maximum upgrade potential while ensuring accuracy of customer receipts.

Umbrella responsibilities of all employees:

  • Adhering to Plant policies and guidelines

  • Working safely and looking out for the safety of those around them

  • Following Safe Reliable Methods (SRMs) or Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)

  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards

  • Attending and participating in Plant safety meetings.

  • Managing controllable costs through proper equipment, tool and consumable usage

  • Reporting any safety or maintenance concerns

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete pre-start forklift maintenance inspection report (or VCR)

  • Complete daily customer receiving tickets (bin counts, tote counts by customer).

  • Take time to insure that all information is written on ticket correctly to minimize issues down the line.

  • Forward daily customer receiving tickets to Operations Specialist for daily entry matching/reconciling

  • Dump non-sort material into bunkers by grade

  • Inspect/tag equipment (bins, totes or other containers) for:

  • Damage

  • Maintenance needs

  • Proper company logo

  • Identification/specification labels

  • Other duties as assigned

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Gloves, approved safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, safety vest, steel toed shoes.

Equipment Operated and Monitored

  • Forklift

  • Pallet Jack

  • Floor Scale

  • Containers are monitored in the event they may need to be repaired or cleaned before sending back.

Tools used

  • N/A

Information collected and exchanged

  • Communicate with baler operator regarding pushing up material in pits

  • Communicate with floor lead – maintenance issues, downtime, production issues

  • Communicate with Plant Lead, PSI and/or PGM on any issues with supplier contamination, change of material type received or MRS grade discrepancies.

Training/Registration/License/Certification requirement

  • Forklift

  • Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) – Red Tag
