0.1 Sales Representatives are direct liaisons between International Paper and the customer. Sales associates assist the customer with order fulfillment, package design, pricing, and overall communications while ensuring profitability and growth for International Paper.

0.2 Sales Representatives report to the general sales manager.

1.0 Primary Sales Representative duties/responsibilities include:

1.1 - following all safety rules and practices;

1.2 - meeting individual account and/or territory volume budgets (tons, sales revenue, square feet);

1.3 - maintaining regular communications with customers to continually evaluate customer needs, obtain orders, and improve customer satisfaction;

1.4 - performing contract review activities with customers to ensure that International Paper capabilities meet customer requirements;

1.5 - ensuring the timely and accurate completion of forms and reports, such as Item Information Forms, Customer Complaints, Requests for Credit Approval, Market Information Updates, and Competitive Activity Reports;

1.6 - actively participating in the weekly sales huddle;

1.7 - keeping travel and entertainment expenses to a minimum;

1.8 - keeping printing plate and cutting die expenses within budget;

1.9 - actively seeking out and participating in personal development opportunities, such as seminars (in-house or outside), reading materials, process improvement committees, and development in place assignments;

1.10 - actively soliciting resolutions to accounts receivable issues;

1.11 - working to improve margins on at least one item per week and involving others (design, customer service, manufacturing, etc.) as appropriate in margin improvement activities;

1.12 - monitoring and controlling finished goods inventories, including dispositioning aged inventories;

1.13 - following management direction and implementing specific practices to improve operations;

1.14 - guiding at least one customer through the facility every three months;

1.15 - facilitating at least one exchange tour of a customer's facility every three months; and

1.16 - performing other duties as directed by the sales manager

1.17 - understands the importance of producing food-safe packaging products and committing to contributing and maintaining this facility as a food-safe processing environment. This commitment includes operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance practices, and cleaning practices involved in the everyday production of food contact products.

1.18 NOTE: Sales associates designated as account executives and sales supervisors mentor and guide less experienced sales and design associates.

2.0 The Qualifications for Sales Representatives are: the ability to perform the duties / responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation, a minimum of one and one-half years’ sales and/or design experience, and interest in continuing education, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Sales rep must be fully bilingual/bicultural and willing to travel into Mexico: both the border and interior. Sales rep must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of a customer’s organization.
