The Franklin Mill, located in Franklin, VA has a collaborative work environment, where all departments and all their employees work with any other department of the mill to achieve mill goals. Personnel from different departments will be moved to other departments when needed to assist operations or maintenance from a whole mill perspective.

The First Line Leader – Maintenance Woodyard-Air-Wells-Effluent reports to the Area Maintenance Manager - mechanical and is an integral part of the Mill’s Operations. This position is responsible for tactical and strategic leadership to consistently improve safety quality, reliability, engagement, cost and efficient operations of the equipment.

This position must foster an environment that will continuously improve productivity through innovation in order to achieve exceptional performance of all maintenance personnel and operators.

The First Line Leader – Maintenance Woodyard-Air-Wells-Effluent will directly manage journeymen maintenance employees, and other maintenance resources, as well as contractors.

Each area is expected to be kept neat, clean, organized and following 5S procedures. The high performance team will use Manufacturing Excellence toolbox methods to consistently improve operations and efficiencies to achieve 3% year over year improvements.

Qualification include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience managing maintenance systems.

  • Minimum 2 years experience managing/supervising people, preferred.

  • Prior experience managing reliability initiatives.

  • Excellent computer skills, and experience with SAP and Microsoft Project, preferred.

  • Strong skills demonstrated in leadership, engagement, and safety management systems.

  • Understanding of precision maintenance practices; RCFA is a plus
