Purpose:

This position is part of the Application Development Services team. The position is responsible for managing the design, development, implementation and support of custom software solutions. They will work in a team environment to recommend and deliver technology enabling business processes. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the current technologies and processes within the Solution Design & Development Team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deep functional and technical knowledge of the .Net development platform

  • Work cohesively with Information Technology resources, business analysts, consultants and business representatives

  • Work with functional teams in order to understand the functional requirements and assist in the creation of solid functional specifications

  • Estimate the time required for designing, building and testing custom programs

  • Provide technical expertise to help formulate a solution to satisfy the functional requirements

  • Develop custom applications which meet the functional requirements

  • Define and document technical specifications for custom developed applications

  • Perform testing to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the solution

  • Follow application and system architecture guidelines

  • Work with team members to ensure the delivered design meets the business requirements

  • Investigate issues in test and production environments and provide resolution recommendations

  • Provide recommendations to the functional teams on how to improve existing and future custom programs

  • Participate and conduct knowledge transfer sessions with other team members

  • Help to plan and determine the best overall implementation approach for solutions spanning across multiple environments

  • Plan and prioritize work and resources across multiple functional teams

  • Provide 24X7 support

  • Work with development managers and peers to: set and maintain development standards, establish and staff virtual teams, and design, build and maintain custom solutions

  • Assign work in such a way to build functional and technical bench strength within the team

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 8 years hands experience

Functional Skills:

  • Ability to clearly articulate verbal and written requirements between customers and technical resources

  • Demonstrated ability to perform analysis and translate requirements into technical requirements

  • Ability to function in a constantly changing environment

  • Capability to take ownership of a task or problem and drive it to a resolution without supervision

  • Ability to manage a small team to complete specific short term projects or tasks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to help plan and prioritize work across multiple teams and environments

Technical Skills:

  • Influence application and technical architecture directions, specifically in the area of Visual Studio.Net design and development

  • Demonstrate leadership and ability to provide quality and timely results in the designing, building, architecture, sustaining, testing, and/or configuring services of application development

  • Be highly skilled in the entire development process (technical analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation)

  • Seek out or create and communicate best practices and processes (examples include architecture, development processes, standards, re-use)

  • Be highly skilled in .Net design and development (C#), including framework 4.0 and higher and Visual Studio 2013 and 2015

  • Knowledge of Entity Framework

  • Knowledge of mobile development, both native iOS and Android and Xamarin

  • Knowledge of VB.Net a plus

  • Oracle database design and development a plus, Oracle 12

  • SQL database design and development a plus, SQL 2008, 2012, 2014

  • Thorough knowledge of Team Foundation Server, TFS

  • Continually improve technical skills and be knowledgeable of cutting edge technology and what others are doing in the field
